Urban Perspectives: Climate Change, Migration, Planning and Financing – A New Generation of Ideas is published in 2017 by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington DC. The book marks the 7th annual paper competition co-sponsored by the Wilson Center, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Bank, IHC Global, and Cities Alliance, which calls for advanced graduate students to submit original, policy-relevant, and solution-oriented research on urban issues.

My paper is a winning entry of the 2016 competition. Included in the book’s final section on “Financing Sustainable Urban Development”, my chapter “Financing Urban Redevelopment through the Market?” examines the sociopolitical intricacies of public-private partnership for urban redevelopment. It was based on my LSE dissertation of the same name. Different from purely academic research, the book chapter digs much deeper into policy lessons and is a lot more succinct (the dissertation’s word count is 9000+, while the book chapter is capped at 5000 words). Below is the digital copy of the book from the Wilson Center’s website.
