Writing / Publication / Housing and Habitus:

Housing and Habitus: Craft, Politics, and the Production of Housing in Oaxaca, Mexico is a book volume I co-edited with Professor Diane Davis and Jose Castillo in 2015. The monograph was part of the research initiative funded by the National Workers’ Housing Authority in Mexico (INFONAVIT), which brought together academics, students, and practitioners at Harvard University Graduate School of Design to rethink the planning, design, and governance of the country’s social housing system.

The book is a 369-page volume that presents a range of essays, research projects, and design proposals. It analyzes the cultural and political complexities of the Oaxaca region and offers housing development options that have the potential to work with and towards those complexities rather than against or away from them. The book was translated into Spanish and delivered to INFONAVIT’s headquarter.

As an editor, I was in charge of organizing the monograph’s themes and contents, commissioning the authors, and designing the book. I also co-wrote two essays, including the concluding chapter. Below are the links to access the digital version of the book.
